Centering culture, advancing health equity, and confronting systemic racism in South Africa

BLKHLTH South Africa is committed to improving health equity for Black South Africans through antiracist, intersectional, culturally-affirming, and innovative health initiatives.

Through engaging community health events, transformative workshops on critical race theory, and creative digital health campaigns, we empower local changemakers in the movement for health justice.

  • Community Health Events

We bring people together to connect with local health resources and spark important conversations about how racism impacts health outcomes, empowering participants to take action toward health equity.

  • Workshops and Training

We use evidence-based facilitation techniques to educate community members and the current and emerging health workforce about racism, intersectionality, and applying antiracism strategies to healthcare and beyond.

  • Digital Media Health Promotion

Through our engaging podcast that explores health and culture in South Africa and our impactful social media campaigns, we help to de-stigmatize health topics and connect audiences to local health resources.

  • "One thing about Millenials and Gen Z is that we are a lot more open to talking about these issues, and what BLKHLTH has started in South Africa is now fostering a community. These kinds of events make living in Africa more enjoyable and more hopeful because we are getting resources. That’s just amazing.”
